So exciting... we are now open at Explore Gorongosa. And have already had 2 sets of guests. I will definitely blog soon with more information and pictures of the camp. It is just so exciting to see a dream become a reality...

Fantastic and well done, it is brilliant that more guests can now officially be welcomed by the Explore Gorongosa team to experience the magic of the park and some of it's hidden secrets. Once you arrive at Gorongosa National Park it is immediately evident why Gorongosa was and is still able to sustain such numbers and diversity of game and bird life. The seven ecosystems at work together with the mountain and the Lake all add to the natural ability for Gorongosa to soon be back to its very best.
ReplyDeleteThat time is not far off, with the amazing projects at work with the local villages that surround the park and the ongoing of game reintroduction together with the decreasing risk to resident game...boy the place is in for exciting times.
I felt so lucky to experience this amazing wilderness area in late April before official opening time and I must commend the Explore Gorongosa team on getting the product right….focusing on the “guest experience" with no set rules and the freedom to choose (from walks, to game drives, to just chilling out on amazing places). It is no wonder I saw so much Lion, observed Impala and Waterbuck rutting (with one poor sub adult becoming the evening meal for the resident crocs right in front of my tent!). In addition, the flood plains were always full of game, the bird life incredible and chasing a massive male warthog from the safety of his burrow certainly added to the unexpected on a walk. Then there is the mountain and the Lake (Urema) which I had to leave for next time...I will certainly be back!
